Herb Gould Asks The Tough Questions!

Our pal Herb Gould of the Chicago Sun-Times (and thus, not an East Central Illinois Media Elite Zealot, or ECIMEZ for short) says what the overwhelming majority of Illini Nation is thinking in his column on Illinois football:

What if Illinois is sitting here next year with another south-of-the-border
record? It's nice to talk about not caving to public opinion. But
there's also a hint of arrogance in there, an attitude that's sure to be noticed
by the people that buy-or don't buy-tickets.

Illinois again will have a schedule filled with peril-eight bowl
teams plus Southern Illinois, which finished #1 in the final FCS
rankings. (6 home games!) A lot of teams schedule for who
they are, not whom they want to be.

Coach Guenther and his Brazil-Sized Ego

Coach Guenther talked to the media (unsurprisingly, no one asked him about why UI has just 6 home games, his lousy record managing the football program, etc.) When asked about his future, Coach Guenther basically told off the UI fans that have supported his crappy football program over the years: "Take it to the boards," Guenther said. "See what the fans say."

Well Ron, here on this board, we say GO AWAY! RON, YOU IDIOT! 81-126-2! 5 bowl games in 19 seasons on the job!

NIT! NIT!

Our midmajor coach gets schooled yet again! Losing to a poor Georgia team who lost to Wofford...who Illinois beat before.

Bowl Season Starts Tomorrow!

And for the 14th season in 19 seasons under Ron Guenther, Illinois is home for the holidays.

Fighting Illini Football=the Band-Aid Way To Solve Problems!

Anyone remember 2003? Team was 1-11, beyond bad. Lord Guenther recommends to Ron Turner that he can Defensive Coordinator Mike Cassity. Turner does that, keeps his job, we go 3-8 the next year and Guenther finally pulls the plug.

Now? Guenther has Ron Zook sack Mike Woodford, the special teams coach (about time!) but he sacks offensive coordinator Mike Schultz, WR coach Jim Pry, and QB coach Beathard.

BOGGLE! The offense actually improved as the season went on, but the defense was bad for most of the year....and those coaches are staying! Dan Disch, the high school "ball coach" and Zook's buddy, keeps his job? Why?

UI football, the band-aid approach! All we need now is Coach Guenther getting a contract extension, and more games in Detroit!

Boosters Speak! Meantime, Guenther Wants A Contract Extension????

A big thumps up to these boosters who said what the vast majority of Illini Nation (a certain fan in Hudson, Ohio excepted) is thinking: Ron Guenther stinks!

"If we ran our business the way they run that football program, we'd be bankrupt."

If a CEO ran a company into the ground, would the bankruptcy trustee let the CEO keep his job?
I don't think so! But Coach Guenther, with an ego the size of Brazil, thinks he deserves a contract extension? How many athletic directors get to hire three football coaches after firing two of his very own hires? BOGGLE!

Well Coach Guenther????? WE'RE WAITING!!!

The silence from Coach Guenther's bunker in Champaign is deafening!! The team banquet (the ones the Rotary Club no longer sponsors!) is Saturday and we keep hearing rumors about coaching changes...is the staff changing or is Ron Zook getting the sack?

It is this kind of indecisiveness and delay that caused Guenther to drop the ball on scheduling...causing Detroit and Fresno and Cincinnati! Don't you ever learn from your mistakes? Come on Ron, let's hear from you!

Ron Turner: A Better Recruiter than Ron Zook?

We used to laugh at Ron Turner's recruiting prowess, when, in his last season of 2004, was offering scholarships to kids offered scholarships by that football powerhouse Elon. Maybe he knew what he was doing? Currently, Elon is ahead of Illinois in the Sagarin ratings!!!!

Congratulations to Temple & Iowa State!

These are two football programs that have even worse records than Illinois since 1992, the first year of the Guenther Error (not Era). Both are going bowling this year. Great job, Football Guy!

81-126-2. 5 Bowl Games in 19 Seasons

Come on, NEOhioIllini! Let's hear from you! I can't wait for Coach Guenther to give lifetime contracts to this loser coaching staff! Illinois football is a clown show!

A Request For Anyone Attending Tomorrow's Football Game

Will the last Fighting Illini fan to leave Memorial Stadium please turn off the lights? Thanks! Coach Guenther wants to keep the DIA in the black! Gotta save money any way we can! Another football season down the toilet!
