Does Coach Guenther Have His Sports Confused?

In basketball, you are rewarded come NCAA tournament time if you play a hard schedule, it's part of the RPI formula. In football, if you play a tough schedule, you get a) 5 bowl games in 17 seasons; b) a record of 78-117-2 as athletic director; c) failing to make bowl games in consecutive seasons as athletic director; d) fans calling you an "idiot."

Per this article, Illinois has the 9th toughest nonconference schedule in the country! And, just 6 home games to boot! Ron, YOU IDIOT!

FRG, I would love to hear your alternative to the Illini being on WIND. Please share your great insight regarding what your alternative is.

Thanks in advance.

WBBM Radio. 780 AM.

heck you could convince WLS to take UI sports.

But that would require Lord Guenther to think outside the box.

Mark Hoestra FC: WLS??? If you were the station manager at WLS, and you had the choice to broadcast either Illini or Notre Dame football, which would you choose? There is only one correct answer. Pick the wrong one, and you're fired!

No you couldn't convince WLS and WBBM doesn't want sports programming other than the Bears, unless they have changed their mind in the last year.

Everyone assumes the Illini schedule is so tough because they play Cincy and Fresno State. They may be right, but it's speculation at this point. The rankings I've seen don't paint either team as a powerhouse.

This team's season will be determined largely by how they do in the first five games.
