Further Proof DIA Sucks at Marketing in Chicagoland

Chicago, um, yeah, the biggest market in Illinois, one of the biggest markets in the USA....the DIA has for years under Lord Guenther failed to properly market Chicagoland. Meantime, Northwestern is now billing itself as "Chicago's Big Ten Team." Great job Ron Guenther!

It would be nice if the DIA marketed in places other than Danville and East Central Illinois!

Loren Tate will tell you that Chicago isn't in Illinois. Just before he tells you the Illini has no chance to become competitive in the Big Ten at football.

Illini football winning percentage:

pre-RG
55%

RG:
39%

RG has been DIA director for 18 years. Only one 18-year period in all of Illini football history was worse: 1961-78, which included the aftermath of the slush fund fiasco:
37%

Hot Tub Time Machine back to 1991 or even 1995.....

1) In 1991, 4 bowls in a row. Excitement in December.

2) Heck, even all the 1992-1995 Illinois football squads won at least 5 games/year.

3) From 1988 to 1995, that's 6 bowl games out of a possible 8.

I watched the Purdue/KSU bowl game from 1998 on the BTN, and they said that Purdue went 12 years without a bowl before Tiller took over.

No more excuses for Illinois football. Get it done!
