Meantime, Coach Guenther's "loyal" hire Bruce Weber and Illinois didn't even make the NCAA tournament. Remember when Ron got mad when Self left? So again, using his "reflexive" hiring policy, he hired a guy who had the quality that the predecessor lacked...without thinking about recruiting. Sort of like when he replaced Lou Tepper with Ron Turner.
Speaking of loyalty, any chance Ron gives back his pay raise to the university? And further, already Bruce Weber is being mentioned as a candidate for the Marquette job....it's all about LOYALTY, Coach Guenther!

Don't look now, but I think you lost another marble.
Bill Self & Roy Williams made the Final 4 because they know how to recruit. Good recruiting trumps good coaching. In 2004-05 Weber won with Self's players and Williams won with Daugherty's players. Saturday night neither Kansas nor North Carolina had one in-state starter. Bruce Weber won't succeed at Illinois if he can't recruit.
