now that its AD left for Duke. Ron Guenther would be the perfect hire for Notre Dame. A "Football Guy" for a "Football School." Ron, please take the job!

Why would you want the best AD in modern Illini sports history fired? It appears to me that this blog is a joke. True?

73-110-2 in football, the main revenue sport. 5 bowl games in 15 years on the job. WARREN YOU IDIOT!
Allowing convicted felon Jamar Smith to keep his scholarship and stay on the team. Allwong men's basketball to decline because he chose a "loyal" guy like Weber over someone who could actually recruit.

Neale Stoner was better and never called a student-athlete an "idiot" in public.

neal stoner fan- I don't know who Warren is, but I know who you are. Fire ron guenther posting under another name to make it look like someone shares his lunatic fringe opinions.

Don't look now, but the football program is back. Top 25 recruiting classes, beat the top ranked team in the B10 on their home turf, BCS bowl game, etc.

Also, 2009 BB commits are currently ranked as a top 5 recruiting class. Plus 2010 class has two top 25 kids committed. Scratch that argument as well.

You're right about RG calling a player ignorant. Bad choice, better choice would have been to call you an idiot.

Neale Stoner got fired because he floated the idea of taking Fighting Illini sports off WDWS.

In contrast, the football program gets slapped with a major NCAA violation under the Football Guy's watch, and he gets a raise and a contract extension.

WIND-a great station for Chicagoland fans!! NOT.

You are starting to make Ted Kaczynski look like a person of reason and rational thought.

After an investigation that revealed improper personal use of gifts and services, Neale Stoner, the athletic director at the University of Illinois since 1979, is expected to resign within two days, according to Morton Weir, the school's chancellor. Weir said that Stoner had used athletic association employees to perform personal work and would step down as soon as details of an agreement are reached."

You have strange heros and screwed up priorities.

"IRISH LOOK FOR A.D.

When Notre Dame athletic director A.D. Kevin White left last week to take the same post at Duke, the Irish named Missy Conboy the interim athletic director. The school has set no timetable to replace White.

Conboy could retain the title, but a source told me the Irish might make a run at Illinois A.D. Ron Guenther. He's a no-nonsense former Illini football player who has earned a rep as a shrewd negotiator in Champaign."

Looks like the Irish do have an interest, I didn't South Bend was located in East Central Illinois.

I hope Guenther jumps at that job. Please!

One fucking winning season for football and everyone thinks the guy is a miracle worker. Look at the total record.

Why not? He got his graduate degrees from Michigan, so he might have seen that as a good idea.
