Cincinnati, Rutgers, West Virginia, Connecticut, Boise St. and Northwestern have all developed winning football programs but Illinois can't do it? I am tired of the excuses. Wisconsin had zero success before Barry Alvarez, Rutgers had no past success before Greg Schiano. Coaching is everything yet Ron Guenther has made two awful hires and refuses to correct his mistakes.
What a sad legacy!! Either he kept Zook because we couldnt' afford to buy out the contract (he gave him an unwarranted extension). OR hes incredibly stubborn to admit he mad another horrendous hire. Either way, the blame rests at his feet and he should be fired!! Hopefully Pres. Hogan will give us a fresh start. We can only get better. We are at the Moeller level now!!
It's too bad that Charest left the program, because I thought he showed something last year.
I really expected Scheelhaase to be a better passer than he showed on Saturday. Hopefully that was just first game jitters.Otherwise, it's going to be a long year.
