Illinois Football Is Back Where It Belongs!

Just like the "golden era" of football under Ron Guenther & Ron Turner, Illinois is back on ESPN's Bottom 10 list! Take a bow, Football Guy!

For those of you who thought before the season that Illinois would be competitive, you are grieving. At what stage of Illini Grief are you?

Maybe next week we can get tickets to sit in the suite of a Purdue dean!

I understand now why Ron Guenther rarely talks to the media. How could he answer this question: Why should you keep your job?

"The Illini men's golf team moved up a spot in the latest Golf World/Nike Coaches poll The Illini check in at No. 6, up from seventh two weeks ago, after winning the Windon Memorial Classic, their second tournament title of the season.

Oklahoma State tops the list followed by Arizona State, Washington, Florida State, and Stanford. The Illini competed against all of these teams, except Washington, in the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational last month, in which the Illini finished seventh. Michigan is the only other Big Ten team in the rankings at No. 18.

Illinois is also sixth on the Golfstat computer rankings behind the same five teams and fifth according to the Golfweek computer, ahead of Florida State and behind the other four teams listed above.

After a record-setting 13-stroke victory at the Wolf Run Invitational in September, the Illini won the Windon Memorial tournament at the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill., for the second straight year. They have picked up right where they left of in their 2008 season, in which they won an NCAA leading seven tournaments.

The Illini are lead by Junior Scott Langley, the seventh ranked individual golfer in the country according to the Golfweek computer rankings. Illinois was also named the Golfweek team of the week for its victory at the Windon."

Great job by Coach Small, great hire by Coach Guenther!

Now if "Coach" Guenther could hire a good football coach, we'd all be happy and shut down this site.

In case you hadn't noticed frg is a blogger with an agenda, albeit a weak one. Wouldn't matter if Guenther hired Vince Lombardi and the Illini won the Super Bowl. frg would just take about beotching about the women's swimming team.

if Guenther truly loved the alma mater, he'd not only fire Zook after the pathetic performance tonight, but also tender his own resignation; look at his football hires: Ron Turner - please
Zooker - a great guy, but gee, you think maybe Florida had a clue that he couldn't coach???
and it's not as if there weren't qualified candidates who could have both recruited AND coached; so wonder what the problem might have been???
