Refusal to Spend Money in Football=Poor Results

Illinois is next to last in the Big 10 in terms of its football budget...Lord Guenther, for being a football guy, continues to do things on the cheap.

This seems like a "Which came first - the chicken or the egg?" question. The budget reflects revenue from the fans supporting good football. In Guenther's case, his 18 years of poor results have caused the fans to refuse to spend money for tickets.

Can someone explain how Northwestern has a larger football budget than Illinois?

Doesn't Northwestern only draw an average of approx. 25,000 fans/game in Evanston?

Where is Northwestern's revenue coming from? Where is Illinois' revenue going?
