Where is the Media Outrage? Part 1

I don't understand why the media gives Ron Guenther a free pass on his dismal record. This is especially true of the Chicago media. As we all know, the Chicago media doesn't like the Illini unless the Fighting Illini are winning (like the 2004-05 men's basketball team). Heck, look at all the hatchet pieces from jabronis like Teddy (Why does a grown man insist on being called "Teddy" anyhow?) Greenstein and Bob "Sako" Sakamoto of the Chicago Tribune questioning how Ron Zook is able to get top recruits despite the football team being so bad.

The Chicago media loves to rip people, and one would think that Ron Guenther is a perfect target. Oh well.

It's easy for people who don't know what is really going on in the majority of top Div. 1 programs to be critical of Ron Guenther. What these critics don't know is that his program is one of the few, if not the only that still has it's character of integrity intact. For the basketball program to have done as well as it's done, competing against dirty programs who will give recruits just about anything to come to their schools in nothing short of a miracle. Illinois fans may be frusterated with some losing seasons, but they should be proud to have a program and an athletic director who still follows the rules.
