I Fund Kowtows to Political Correctness
Yeah, as if it wasn't bad enough that Chief Illiniwek was sacrificed at the altar of political correctness.....now the I Fund has gotten rid of such offensive terms as "Warrior Club" and "Brave Club" and replaced them with real exciting terms such as "Champion Club" and "All-American Club."
For crying out loud, if the DIA was going to go all P.C., why not call the clubs the "Butkus Club" or the "Grange Group"; something to reflect UI's history????
Great job Ron! Oh, and another thing, great job lobbying your pal Jim Delany for night games at Memorial Stadium! The Eastern Illinois and Louisiana-Lafayette games are at 11 AM!!! Meantime, Indiana & Minnesota (real football powerhouses) get 6 PM games in September!

Because the U of I has to *pay* people for the use of their names and likenesses. You can't just use someone's name and reputation for your own purposes---i.e. making money, soliciting donations, fundraising, etc. Which brings us back to the "P.C." action by the U of I which ended the misappropriation of Native American's name, history, religion, etc. for making money.
I get that people miss the Chief. We aren't going back....

That isn't all they have to do as alum pointed out. You would have to get their permission and perhaps pay something at which point you would complain about money being pissed away. Are the new names of the fund levels going to matter to anybody?
