Rumor on New Football Parking Policy of DIA

Just when you thought the DIA couldn't get any dumber...

Rumor is that DIA will allocate parking lots based on your I-fund priority points, like when the DIA reallocated seating after the renovations of Memorial Stadium.

Old policy was that you could park in any lot lower than your I Fund level. If what I am hearing is true, now you can only park in the lot you picked. For example, the Loyalty Circle always had the lot next to stadium, but many Loyalty Circle members chose to park across street in grass. Now they have to choose.

Tate on some Illinois non-revenue sports that are setting new highs-"Now seemingly established and cresting, Starkell's women have attained strong Midwestern status, similar to that of several other UI spring sports. As noted, Hayasaki's men are projected to reach the Super Six on Thursday after sharing the Big Ten crown. Mike Small's golfers have won five meets and will carry high expectations into the Big Ten championships May 1-3 at Penn State. Both tennis teams are 7-1 in conference play. And Dan Hartleb's baseball team was ranked earlier and will take a 6-3 conference record into the weekend series here with Minnesota. These teams abound with high-quality youth, and are already strikingly better than they were a few years ago."

Looks like Guenther has things moving in a positive direction on all fronts.

No alumni care about those sports. Football and basketball is the lifeblood of any program. No AD has been fired because the men's golf team had a disappointing year. And also, people blast FRG for being "biased"... How can you post a quote from Loren Tate and consider that an honest assessment of the situation?

I'm an alumni and I care.

I know other alumni that care.

Since you apparently don't care about those sports how do you know that Tate is not correct?

Just because Tate is biased does not mean that he is not correct in this case. Since he provides
actual records/ratings it seems he has evidence backing his opinion.

FRG is biased, but that does not mean he is always incorrect. However, he is incorrect in regard to his opinion on Guenther.

This makes you about 0 for 5 for making any correct statements.

I care about those sports as do others, but everyone agrees that football & basketball are the financial lifeblood of the athletic programs.

I find your comments of Tate amusing. I've been reading his stuff for over thirty years and the reaction to his writing has always been either "he's a homer" or "he's anti-Illini" and both sides are equally convinced of their position.

FRG, in your profile you claim that you are "a competent AD." And in at least one of your blogs you have stated that you would be the best candidate to replace Guenther as AD at Illinois. Are you serious about that? Or is that just a joke?

It's actually a joke! He's attempting to be a lawyer, but that's turning out to be a joke as well.

So what it is, FRG? Are you an athletic director or a lawyer?

I thought FRG was an egomaniac chain-smoking doctor who thinks Jamar Smith was unfairly punished.

He's a lawyer that frequently loses cases where the evidence is in his favor. Think about it, he has information that should help him do his job correctly and yet... So how good do you think he would be as an AD?

Did I mention that this is per his own admission?
