Shawn Wax Is Leaving!!!

Shawn Wax, Senior Associate Athletic Director, is leaving his position, effective April 15th. We're not sure what this means in terms of Saint Guenther staying (heaven forbid!) or finally leaving (yes!) but this is an intriguing development. We have always enjoyed talking with Shawn and his wife, Fighting Illini softball coach Terri Sullivan. One of our greatest memories of Shawn is when he caught that touchdown at Southern California in 1989 to clinch a great comeback win!

Also, there were always rumors about Shawn Wax succeeding Coach Guenther as AD. So much for those rumors.....

Shawn, we wish you the best of luck! Don't move to Hudson, Ohio!!!

Easy to figure out!! He's sick of working for a guy who has run Illinois football into the tank. We are giong to be stuck with Guenther for 5 more years and hes going to pour 100 million into a building nearly 50 years old (Ass. Hall)

Ron Guenther is an a**wipe. He must have pictures on the administration at Illinois. How else can this man have a job???

I still don't understand how Guenther is his own boss and decides if his own contract should be renewed and for how much. Leaders of any organization have to answer to the stakeholders -- whether they be shareholders, employees, voters, fans, etc. -- and yet he pops his head up for a half-hour once every two years before retreating back into his fortress of unaccountability. And the press gives him a free pass for it! It's unbelievable.

If Guenther was paid 100,000 for every football win since he was AD, he would be seriously behind what he has been paid. I encourage all Illinois fans to do everything possible to get a new AD who actually gets it!! No more money until he is retired!!
