Our Mid-Major Coach Rocks!

It's bad enough to lose, but getting blown out at home on national television really says it all about our mid-major men's basketball head coach. The team looked like it never saw a zone before. Weber waited until Illinois was down 20 in the first half to finally call a time out!

This game felt like your typical home football game under Coach Guenther: a blowout. Thankfully, I switched channels and ended up watching Temple Gradin on HBO. I am sure that closet Buckeyes fan in Hudson, Ohio must be happy!

Gutless post. Where have the basketball jabs been after the last two wins?

So we're deleting responses we don't agree with? I saw some earlier and now they've mysteriously disappeared.

Just imagine Illinois with Evan Turner. Or Eric Gordon. Or Jon Scheyer....

Amen. Six wins in a row and a team that relies on 3 freshmen plays inconsistently- just like you'd expect. frg nowhere to be seen when the team is winning and now he jumps in with a pathetic blog. Prooving once again, that he's not really a fan.

He should be very thankful that his bosses aren't as fair weather as he is!

I'm still confused about when profanity is and is not allowed on this blog . . .

Wow. Now you have to see the comments and make sure they fit your agenda before publishing them. You certainly have a couple big, brass ones . . .

There were 5 wins in a row, Illini fan. Three were against the worst teams in the Big Ten. One was against a team without their MVP. One was a legitimately great Big Ten win.

As to freshmen, Illinois doesn't "rely" on Tyler Griffey unless you mean "rely" in the sense that he's had to play a lot b/c Davis flaked for half the year, Semrau and Simpson have failed to develop their talent.

Richardson and Paul do play quite a bit, but at this point in the season, their freshman status is no excuse for not being able to identify a basic zone and know to exploit it. They - and their 3rd-year PG - failed to break a zone every good high school player knows how to exploit.

Today was Illinois' opportunity to prove the Wisconsin game wasn't a fluke and that they were a legitimate Big Ten title contender and NCAA <7 seed. They utterly failed in every respect imaginable, and to not be disappointed right now is to basically be a thoughtless DIA marketing stooge.

To think Thad Matta could have been coaching Illinois the last 6 years is especially disappointing.

There are no bad teams in the B10, especially when you play against them on the road. All 5 games count in the W column no matter who they came against and no matter who didn't play

Yep, Semrau didn't develop and Simpson hasn't yet. Just goes to show that Weber is not perfect like the haters think they are.

I didn't know that freshmen were no longer freshmen at some point in their freshmen season. Interesting thought process there.

The PG who might be playing in the NBA next year and, if not, probably will be in 2011. Yes, even a potential NBA guard might have an off game.

No, more like I just happen to be a well adjusted person who doesn't act like a whiny self indulged fool when my team loses one out of 6 games.

"To think Thad Matta could have been coaching Illinois the last 6 years is especially disappointing.""

Matta never expressed interest in the Illinois HC job and was never a candidate. Doesn't matter if he's from Hoopseton, IL, he grew up an Indiana fan. Typical hater response in that facts get lost in the agenda.

Can't tell you how pathetic the thinking is that went into this post.

Kevin Kanilowski - How exactly could Matta have been coaching Illinois the past 6 years? We'd love to read your insight.

I see there are no new comments on this post today. Is that because nobody has submitted a comment, or because nobody has submitted a comment with which you agree?

Yep, any player or coach that had a remote tie to or interest in Illinois and isn't there can be held against the HC and AD.

Motto of the haters- Forget the successes and focus on the failures, especially those of someone else!
