79-119-2...thus, Illinois has won 39.5% of its gamesfrom 1992-current
If it's true that the football program brings inapproximately 70% of the revenue for the Illinois athleticdepartment...I'll let you do the math in terms of lost revenue over theyears as a result of empty seats at Memorial Stadium...imagine ifIllinois had a competitive football program...5 bowl games in the 17 years of Illinois' AD's tenure...the last time Illinois had back to back winning seasons was 1989 & 1990 (before the current AD took over thereigns)
The current season is only 3 games old. Losing is one thing; not being competitive, not being disciplined, and not being prepared to play is another.
Who has been responsible for the hiring & firing of the head football coaches at Illinois since 1992? Ron Guenther.
Illinois has upgraded its facilities during the current AD's tenure (sokudos for that), however, name one school in the Big10 that also hasn't upgraded their facilities (primarily football and/or basketball) from1992-current...the fact is the other 10 conference schools all have as well...just pointing out that Illinois is not breaking new ground here folks.
Also, there are a total of 65 BCS football schools from the 6 BCSfootball conferences...in terms of winning % Illinois ranks (gulp) 60th out of these 65 BCS schools from 1992-current*This is the list of the 5 BCS schools with worse winning %'s thanIllinois during this time period (1992-current)
Duke: basketball school with great academics
Indiana: basketball schools (note the 5 national championship banner hanging in their rafters)
Iowa State: who caresBaylor: a school with no business being in its conference
Vanderbilt: a great academic school with NO athletic department and NO AD!
Quite an impressive list! The list of 59 BCS schools with better winning %'s than Illinois from1992-current is too long to list. Again, #60 out of 65...that puts Illinois in the bottom 10% of all BCSfootball schools over the past 17+ years!!!!
